Gratona concepts and key terms
Updated 2 months ago
Use these terms to understand how donor, giving, program, and relationship data fits together in Gratona.
Workspace and organization
Your workspace is the Gratona environment for your organization. Organization settings control shared details such as identity, currency, timezone, users, payment gateways, and connected apps.
Donor and household
A donor is a person or organization that supports your mission. A household groups related donor records while preserving each person’s identity, contact preferences, giving history, and relationship context.
Gift and recurring gift
A gift is a financial contribution recorded in Gratona. A recurring gift is a commitment that creates payments on a schedule. Gifts can be connected to a donor, program, campaign, event, designation, or other supported fundraising context.
Program
A program organizes an ongoing initiative and its forms, settings, public experience, participants, recipients, or designations. Programs can support many operating models; sponsorship is one option, not a requirement.
Campaign and designation
A campaign is a fundraising effort with a public giving experience and measurable results. A designation lets donors direct a gift to a specific fund, purpose, project, campus, or other choice inside a campaign.
Recipient
A recipient is a person, project, team, fund, or other record presented through a recipient program. The fields and public profile depend on the program’s configured form and model.
Sponsorship and commitment
A sponsorship connects a donor with a recipient through an ongoing commitment. Organizations that do not run sponsorship programs can use Gratona’s donor, gift, campaign, event, stewardship, reporting, and automation tools without this workflow.
Stewardship
Stewardship is the ongoing work of acknowledging support, maintaining relationships, recording interactions, and following up at the right time. Gratona connects that work to donor history and team ownership.
Interaction and conversation
An interaction records relationship activity such as an email, meeting, call, note, task, or calendar event. Conversations is a specialized messaging workflow for organizations that enable moderated donor-recipient communication.
Journey and system automation
A journey organizes multi-step relationship follow-up. System automations handle product-driven messages and tasks. Your team controls the rules, review requirements, and final actions.
Report and worksheet
A report is a saved definition for fields, filters, calculations, and delivery. A worksheet is the interactive table where you explore records, adjust columns, filter results, calculate totals, and export data.
Integration and connected app
An integration connects Gratona with another service for payments, accounting, communication, storage, signatures, background checks, or automation. Availability depends on your plan, permissions, and organization configuration.
