Configure fixed sponsorship levels
Updated 3 weeks ago
Fixed sponsorship levels control which monthly amounts donors can choose on a program's public page, and when each amount hides as a recipient fills up. You configure them in the Website & Embed workspace, under Public Page, with Sponsorship amount rules.
Before you start
The program needs at least one sponsorship amount greater than zero configured in Program Settings. Fixed levels are built from those amounts.
Your role must be able to manage website settings. If your role can only preview, the settings panel is read-only.
Select fixed sponsorship levels
Go to Programs > Recipients and select Manage on the program card to open Website & Embed.
In the settings panel, open the Public section and find Sponsorship amount rules.
Select Fixed sponsorship levels. The other option, Current amount rules, keeps the existing donor-facing behavior.
Set each level's funding threshold
Each configured monthly amount becomes a level, shown with its amount, its optional label, and a hide at field measured in percent funded. A level hides once the recipient's committed monthly funding reaches that percentage. With no threshold set, a level defaults to hiding at 100% funded.
For a recipient with a $60 monthly target and $30 and $60 levels:
Set the $60 level to hide at 50 and the $30 level to hide at 100.
Below 50% funded, donors can choose $30 or $60.
From 50% until fully funded, only $30 is available.
At 100% funded, no amount is offered.
Remove the Other option
Turn off Allow custom sponsorship amounts so donors cannot enter their own amount. When it is off, Other is hidden and donors can only choose visible fixed levels. When it is on, donors can pick any configured level or select Other and type an amount.
Fixed-level mode also prevents the automatic Complete sponsorship amount from being added. No exact-balance completion amount is added in this mode, so donors never see an option for the exact remaining balance of a partially funded recipient.
Allow amounts above the remaining target
Allow amounts above the remaining target decides whether a donor can choose a level larger than what a recipient still needs. When it is on, a new sponsorship can take ongoing monthly funding above the target. When it is off, donors can only choose a level that fits within the remaining target.
For example, if $20 is already committed toward a $60 target and a donor chooses the $60 level with this setting on, the recipient ends up with $80 in ongoing monthly commitments. Choose this setting based on your program's policy.
Fully funded recipients stop accepting new sponsorships. Once a recipient reaches its target, donors see no amount options for that recipient.
Check your choices in the funding simulator
The Try the funding rules simulator shows what donors would see at a given funding level before you save anything. It explores a sample recipient and does not change any sponsorships.
Enter a Sample monthly target ($), such as 60.
Drag the Currently funded slider from 0 to 100 to test representative funding levels, such as 0%, 50%, and 100%.
Read the result line, for example At 50% funded ($30), donors can choose:, followed by the amounts available at that point.
The simulator uses your current unsaved settings, so you can adjust thresholds and toggles and see the effect immediately.
Save your changes
Every edit in the workspace is a draft until you click Save changes. Nothing updates the public page until then.
Discard appears while you have unsaved changes and restores the last saved settings after you confirm Discard changes in the Discard unsaved changes? dialog.
These settings are program-specific. Repeat them in each program's Website & Embed workspace.
Troubleshoot fixed sponsorship levels
The fixed levels list is empty
The hide-at field shows an error
Thresholds must be greater than 0 and at most 100. Enter a value in that range, such as 50 or 100.
A level is missing from the list
Duplicate amounts and amounts that are not positive numbers are ignored when the levels are built. Check the program's sponsorship amounts in Program Settings and remove duplicates or invalid values.
Other still appears on the public page
Verify that Allow custom sponsorship amounts is off, then click Save changes. The change does not take effect until you save.
Complete sponsorship still appears on the public page
Verify that Fixed sponsorship levels is selected under Sponsorship amount rules, then click Save changes. Only fixed-level mode removes the automatic exact-balance amount.
